Dedicated to the memory of Sue Welfare (née Wintle)

This is a tribute page to Sue Wellfare, who was born on March 24 1959 and who sadly passed away Christmas 2016. Friendly, hospitable, generous, warm, unafraid to speak out with firmly held beliefs, she is much loved and missed and will always be remembered.

Sue loved the ballet, horses, entertaining, sea bathing and spending time in the countryside and country shows. As a member of English Heritage she would spend days visiting grand houses with husband Graham, a favourite being Osborne House. Sue was fond of good food and wine, and she was an accomplished cook who loved to entertain; an exemplary host because she loved people.

She spent her childhood in Weston-super-Mare, moving to London for the 'University years', before she met and married Graham and moved to Letchworth. At home, she was always working with Graham on their house and garden finding little improvements and producing glorious summer flowers each year. She worked every day of her life, first for the new Social Democratic Party until its demise, then for the RSPCA and an educational charity, before spending almost 20 years with the Open University. Self-effacing, stoic and a true Englishwoman, Sue would be amazed and thrilled to know she lives on in peoples' hearts and shared memories.
